Hello one and all, my name is Karl F. Reinbold. I have been fabricating custom mufflers and functional exhaust systems since 2003. The radio control model airplane hobby has become very sophisticated in recent years. The need for a knowledgeable hobbyist, who can keep up with the sophistication, has created a demand. Giant scale, Almost Ready to Fly or A.R.F. and similar models, has become very popular with the addition of add-ons. These add-ons were never thought of before, especially the A.R.F. family. The reasons being an A.R.F. model is inexpensive and less time intensive compared to fabricate a kit model. The modeler has changed their thinking towards adding more character to a model. This is where Bold Mufflers comes into picture.
Before, stock
mufflers were made available for model engines. Several steps
were involved in cutting away half the coweling for installation.
Bold Mufflers will make your muffler fit under the cowel upon
your specifications. As a modeler, you know how much room and placement of the exhaust to exit. I have found the best method of a mockup or pattern for your model’s muffler. Send a pattern or mockup and I will make the muffler to your mockup from aluminum. You may ask…“can I make a sketch or give measurements” and of course the answer is yes but I have found in the past measurements were slightly off or did not allow for items in the way. Rework leads to higher cost that could have been prevented with a pattern.
Another way
modelers are adding more character to their models is adding a
functional exhaust system with scale like manifolds such as the
P-51, T-28, Spitfire are to name a few. These manifolds are
fabricated and machined from aluminum. The stacks can be
formed into a multiple shapes and sizes for different scale models
with no casting involved. These manifolds can be made
functional or non-functional. An example would be a set of
manifolds for the P-51, non-functional. The reason is a
typical cost for a set of manifolds at $350 can be made functional
later on. At least you have a set of manifolds that has given
your model more character than the plastic manifolds on the side.
